Precious Basel Plastic is a collective that emerged from the BA Process Design at HyperWerk HGK Basel, focused on engaging the local community with polyvalent raw material, plastic. This initiative has led to a series of workshops in collaboration with the Museum Tinguely Basel.
Where does all the plastic on our Earth come from? Most importantly: Where does it go? And how can we manage our use of this material?
In collaboration with the Tinguely Museum, Precious Basel Plastic is hosting a series of hands-on workshops called Plastic Matters that complement the current exhibition Mika Rottenberg: Antimatter Factory. These workshops are not just about recycling; they’re about reimagining the potential of plastic.
Process Design students Moritz Rubitschung, Joshua Buess, Adrien Schryve will bring self-built machines to the Tinguely Museum and invite participants to actively follow the process of plastic being shredded, melted, and reshaped, while raising their awareness of the plastic problem. As a memorable takeaway, participants will leave the workshop with a small object they’ve helped create, a tangible reminder of the importance and potential of recycling.
